Ok, but it is bootable from a P6T? What exactly is an on-board OROM?

That I don't know, maybe. In theory yes, but this can depend on all sorts of things. Some consumer boards don't like booting from PCIe, others work ok. Best to ask on a dedicated P6T forum.

OROM is I suspect the controller system on the PCIe unit.

Ian.

My M.2 slot was only a PCIex2 so I ended up buying the Lycom M.2 x4 PCIe adapter for $30. Mounted the adapter with the Kingston HyperX Predator 240gb in the PCIe slot below my top sli graphics card. The adapter is very low profile and does not interfere with the airflow to my top graphic card fan. Max ATTO Disk Benchmark 1420 read 645 write. Boots W8.1 to my x99 motherboard.

I bought the hyperx predator pcie ssd a few days ago, and put it on my Asus P6T motherboard in a PCIex16 slot. The bundled cloning software didn't work however: Errors, couldn't find the SSD obviously. So I formatted the SSD, and copied a Norton Ghost image from my system to it. Then I made a Windows7 system repair to make it bootable, which worked. But now every time I boot I get the message: " CD-ROM Boot Prioity .. No Medium
Reboot and Select proper Boot Device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". Although the SSD is the first priority in the BIOS, which is in AHCI-mode. When I put a CD in my CD-drive it boots OK. I updated the BIOS to the latest version, but no avail. Asus and Kingston have no solution for this. This is very annoying, does anyone has a solution for this?>

I called Kingston and they first walked me through using device manager to get the Predator recognized (I installed it onto my M.2 port on motherboard). I tried using Acronis, but it didn't work and had problems similar to yours. Then ended up reformatting the Hyper to erase the clone. I unplugged my ssd that previously was my boot drive as well as all my other SATA drives. Then loaded a fresh copy of windows 8.1 onto the Predator using my Windows CD and DVD player. It then recognized the Predator as the c boot drive. Then I added the old SSDs and deleted windows from it. Software isn't my forte, but apparently there is something about the machine not liking the copied Windows and trying to use the original copy authorized Windows if it is present. Then added my other drives.
