It not only means that your colour ink cartrage needs to be replaced , it means that without replacing the colour cartrage, nothing on the printer will work until you replace it at a cost of $30.00. the copier does not work the scaner will not work and even though you have a full black and white cartrage in your printer it will not print in black and white . So much for cheaper printing frankily I have this printer and it will very shortly be replaced by something that will still work when the colour cartrage is empty it is a piece of garbage to someone who prints mostly in black and white.
