[SOLVED] Kraken blocking first RAM slot - is it safe?

Hello!


My specs are:
MSI Z390 Ace
NZXT Kraken X72
G.SKILL Trident RGB 2x8GB

Now I need 32GB of RAM, so i decided to buy next two sticks, but (as I read before buying whole computer) Kraken is blocking first DIMM slot. It isn't giving much pressure, but anyway I want to ask. Is it safe to have pressure on my memory? Can my RAM slot/or RAM break because of it? If I mount all of them, the first is only a little bit touching second. I know i can rotate pump, but it won't look the same . Also, I know Kraken X73/Z73 can rotate LED, but I don't want spend more money on cooler, only for one thing.

Really depends on the amount of pressure. Yes, your RAM slot could 'break', but you'd have to have quite an amount of force to do so.

How much is too much? Is 3mm okey? I see a lot of people using it this way, and they don't have problems.

Hard to say definitively, but provided there's enough 'play' that you could physically push the module back to it's correct orientation without much force, then there's not enough pressure on the DIMM/Slot to cause damage.

Either get 2x16GB modules or rotate the cooler.

BTW - it's possible to run into ram compatibility issues, when mixing different ram kits together.
