Hey guys, recently got this liquid cooling system and I don't think it is working. I tossed it into my new pc and on the first boot I realized that my CPU temperature is going absolutely crazy. It reached 75c and I quickly turned the sucker off. I made sure all the connections where plugged in and alas, the same result occurred on round two. Currently I don't have anything installed and am still trying to set up the PC because this is the first PC I have built. I will leave my specs below in hope that someone can help. I also want to note the I am using an ASUS MAXIMUS VIII Hero and the three pin plug IS plugged into the specified liquid cooling pump pins, so that shouldn't be an issue.

CPU: I5 6600K
MOBO: Asus Maximus VIII Hero
GPU: PNY GeForce 970
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 3200mhz
Cooling: Kraken X61
PSU: EVGA Supernova 850W G2
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
OS: Windows 7 (when I fix my CPU temperature and can figure out how to install it)

It'd be great if I can get some help, I have absolutely no idea what I have done wrong or if I got unlucky and got a faulty pump to begin with. The LEDs on the pump are lighting up and both fans are working BUT as I said, the CPU is reaching an outrageous temperature. Thanks for anyone who can help!

Solution
If you have the internal USB header on the motherboard, try connecting the Kraken through USB. If you already have CAM installed it will tell the PUMP and FAN RPMS. If you still need to install the software, try using the stock cooler for the time being and just power on the Kraken and check diagnostics through the CAM software, this will tell you if the pump is dead or not.

If the pump is fine, then the problem was probably in the way you installed it. Try cleaning the processor surface with a good cleaning solution and lint cleaner. Then reapply the thermal paste and make sure the copper surface on the pump is flush to the processor, do a visual inspection before turning things on.

Hope this helps
I actually got a speedy reply on reddit that fixed this issue. Apparently it works on the CPU_FAN slot but not the W_PUMP slot, odd. Well thanks to whoever ended up reading this and if an admin wouldn't mind closing out this thread. Thanks.

Solution

As I posted above apparently it needed to be inserted into the cpu_fan slot instead of the w_pump slot which I found odd. None the less, thanks for the reply but I got it to work.
