Installed this mb +amd64 3000 running xp pro worked fine for about month -
it then lost the drivers for the on board network adapter and will not
re-install them voluntarily - I have to force the install. When booting up
it appears to get an ip address in the correct range usually
192.168.2.120-130 but I can't ping anything on the network even the router
that gave it the ip address

Any ideas - ive tried installing/uninstalling no luck it doesn't appear to
recognise the adapter but knows there is an ethernet device present

Help

My wife's 6702 lost the network adapter completely after running OK for a
couple of weeks. But it would occasionally reappear in the post. Rather
than waste any more time I simply purchased a PCI adapter and disabled the
on-board lan.. It was cheap enough. Overall I have found the 6702 to be
very cranky. It would get into moods in which it simply refused to post. I
had to throttle the PC3200 Crucial ram down to CL3/DDR333 and also install a
new, highly steady and reliable power supply. But it would still act up
once in a while. I eventually bought a set of Crucial Ballistix DDRs and so
far, so good.

You could try downloading the latest bios, VIA chipset drivers, and other
drivers from the MSI web site. But first try clearing the CMOS and loading
the "safe" default setup. And don't push the ram settings up for
performance.
