I’ve never had a dedicated KVM before and not sure what I should be looking for. There are a lot of options with a wide range of prices.

I have 2x computers I want to control with one keyboard and mouse and connect to 2x screens preferably. However, would be able to sacrifice 1x screen if need be.

What should I be looking for?

My hardware
  • 1x Mac Studio → HDMI and USB-C video connectors
  • 1x windows pc with a 3090 → HDMI and Display Port connectors
  • Logitech MX keyboard and Mouse → Both connected to the same USB Unifing receiver.
  • 1x screen is a Dell (2022) and has HDMI and USB-C connectors, the other is a Lenovo (2021) screen with HDMI connectors.

No specific answer (full disclosure).

However, I suggest that you sketch out a diagram showing all of the devices and components to be connected.

Include all devices, cables including plug types and genders, and ports.

Remember that you will probably need a few additional cables as well.

If you go online and search for "KVM diagrams" you can readily find example diagrams.

Look at the diagrams and images and then revise the search criterial to help narrow down the possibilities.

Does not need to a "work of art". Just enough to clearly show everything.

As a diagram example (not a product recommendation or endorsement).

Then you look for a KVM with a matching configuration of ports.
