Hello guys,

I was wondering how important was the L3 cache in games, especially high end games. I am currently using an A10 6800k with a discrete 7770 ghz edition(i know its an apu and i should have bought a normal cpu if i was going to use a discrete graphich card anyways) and i am wondering if it would perform better with a regular quad core FX series that has L3 cache.

The L3 cache only helps when the L1 or L2 'missed' having the data that the cpu needs, the caches are kinda like a very fast, nearby ram.

Regardless, yes, a fx 4350/6300/8300 would make your games run a little faster, but your 7770 probably will not be bottlenecked by the cpu; the 6800k isn't too poor.
It will. But not that much, you are looking at like maybe a 10 percent improvement in games that need more CPU power.

Its minimal and not worth it unless you are looking at going for a full on 8 core AND a graphics card upgrade.

Right now your graphics card means a lot more in gaming and unfortunately is gonna hold you back a lot more than the CPU if you were to get a new CPU and Mobo combo.
