I recently upgraded my monitor from a 60hz Hanns g to a 144hz Asus vg248qe. The problem is whenever I change my monitors refresh rate to 144hz and get in game, I immediately start getting small lag spikes accompanied by the yellow lightning bolt (connection issues symbol), every 4 or 5 seconds . This doesn't happen when I'm playing with vsync at 60 or 85 hz, its only with the higher frame rates that I start to lag. This is also the only game i have this problem with. I feel this problem shouldn't have anything to do with my hardware as its more than powerful enough to run Overwatch at 1080p with 144 fps. My CPU and GPU temps are fine while playing the game, as is my ping, RTT and fps.

Solutions I've tried so far:
-Reinstalling overwatch
-Restarting computer
-Restarting modem and router
-Turning ALL graphics settings to low
-Windowed and fullscreen mode
-Opening ports
-Changing in game resolution
-Opening up computer to make sure everything looked OK (airflow, cords)

My specs are as follows:
Geforce gtx 970
Intel i5 4690k
8 gb patriot RAM
Gigabyte GA‑Z97X‑SLI ATX Motherboard

Id greatly appreciate any insight towards my problem. Thanks.
PS:I dont usually make posts on online forums so hopefully my format is correct. 😛
PPS: I've already posted this on the blizzard technical support forum and havnt recieved a response yet.

not that this will cause the issues but your hardware at max setting will do around 90+- 20 fps not 144hz in Overwatch (see link of date same set up) also i dont see it on the product page for the monitor so i'm assuming it dos not have gsync this could possible create the problem. turn on afterburner and test what FPS you get in the game. Also get nvidia to select best setting for the game and see what this will do and what will be selected. Do you use the display port ? you should if you are not.

Thanks and GG

Thanks for the reply! So when I turn my settings down to low-medium I can maintain a steady 154 fps, this has no effect on the lag however. You are also correct about it not being g-sync, although its not a g- sync my monitor comes highly rated and is used by many professional streamers so i don't think i should be getting lag of any kind. Your last suggestion however to use a display port cable is pretty much the only solution haven't tried at this point. I am currently using a dual link dvi cable and since the display port cable seem relatively inexpensive i might give that a shot. Do you think that might just be the solution Im looking for? Thanks again for your response!
