lag spikes occur in games

Hey guys, i have been experiencing lag spikes in certain games(middle earth shadow of mordor, farcry 4, watchdogs and assassins creed unity)which were not there earlier. The lag after starting continues to exist and therefore results in a massive drop of fps(from somewhere around 55 to 35 or even below. These lag issues didn't exist earlier and the games used to run very smooth for me. Please do help me guys i have no clue about what to do.

try checking the temps of your graphics card to see if theres some thermal throttling. also try updating your GPU drivers.

Temperatures of my gpu(saphhire amd radeon r9 270x OC 4GB edition) reach till 95 degrees sometimes when i am running those games. Otherwise 85-90 would be the average. What is psu throttling?

I meant thermal throttling. and my drivers are up to date

thermal throttling is when your hardware gets too hot and then as a built in safety measure it lowers the clock speeds in order to keep the hardware from getting too hot and getting damaged. those temps seem kind of high in my opinion. we have the same GPU and i also play those games and my r9 270x 2gb never goes above ~80C. are you overclocking your GPU at all? overclocking settings that are too high will result in increase thermal output.

I haven't overclocked it as it was a factory oc(it has been overclocked while manufacturing i guess. So i didn't OC it.

Maybe you have something running in the background? and my last guess would be the airflow of your case. make sure your GPU has a good source of air otherwise it cannot cool properly.

There are some processes running in background but they don't take up that much of ram put intense load on the cpu. I'll still check for some heavy processes. I don't have extra fans installed in my pc. If i have to install it then how many of them would be required for normal functioning of my card?
