Question Laggy display

I was playing a game and all of a sudden the display was frozen. I figured that it was because of the graphics card so I borrowed a graphics card to see if it will work properly. It did. I plugged back in the original GTX 1060 I had and the cursor everything, opening applications was taking really long. Does anyone know why this happened and how to fix it?

Need more info. Does the 1060 overheat? Did you update windows and graphics drivers?
