I'm getting a 'connection timed out error' on my laptop. It doesn't go away after using different browser. I tried everything, cleared cache, cleared the ipconfig/flushdns trick, tried the 8888/8844 google dns trick. Nothing worked. I even did a PC reset. No use.

I have an android phone which connects to the same router via wifi. And when I try to open the same site on my phone, it opens, but on my PC, it gives 'timed out' error.

Is this a hardware problem?

Connection timed out isn't necessarily a DNS problem. What does ipconfig on your PC say? Are you using DHCP and if so, are you getting assigned an IP address? Is the default gateway set to the router's IP address?

Is your network adapter functioning? Is your PC actually able to connect to the WIFI SSID? Does it says it's connected but there is no internet connection? Would need a lot more information to help diagnose.

I recently had a problem where my WIFI slowed down to a crawl and the only fix for it was resetting my Netgear Nighthawk X6 back to factory defaults and setting it up again. After that, everything was fine.

Cheers!
