Question LAN shared folder permissions disappear

It stopped working about 2 month ago all of a sudden. Reinstalled win 10, changed shared folder to HDD, all the same. No programs were installed

Steps: I open the folder, click Properties - Sharing - Share... - then add users to share with, choose their permission level and save.

When i then open Sharing properties again - these added users disappear visually.

People can actually open this shared folder from their computers, so it works. But if i want to share the folder to other users - i have to add them AND old users. otherwise they will lose their permissions.

How are you sharing the folders?

Between users on a single PC or across a network with multiple pcs and users?

Does the host computer have a static IP address or are you using full path names to identify the host computer and directory/network path.

Sketch out a simple diagram of the required folder sharing. Pay attention to the folder hierarchies.

Group Policy may also be involved.
