[SOLVED] LAN tranferring speed too slow.

I have a LAN set up at home, which has been working fine until recently. I have noticed the speed for moving files is much slower, actually it is the exact speed that my internet has; 10 mb/s. I am suspecting my LAN is not really working through the network but is using my internet connection to transfer files. Hope I didn't complicate too much and that someon can help me.

Quick way to find out--disconnect your Internet connection and transfer some files.

I'm not sure how to disable internet only, since the connection is going through my modem, but I can confirm that the transfers are using my internet and not my LAN because if I'm streaming media or transferring files from one PC to the other, I am suddenly getting high ping in games and it would also be too much of a coincidence that the transfer speed would exactly match my internet speed, peaking at around 11,7mb/s.

Unplug the coax from your modem to disconnect your Internet. I think you're right that it's running over the Internet, but let's confirm it.
