Is there any software that can boost the sensitivity of a mic input of a motherboard? I think this mic is designed for phones as it recorded fine on the phone. But is a computer motherboard with built on audio that much more insensitive than a phone? Seems odd.

You mean mic levels in Windows 7 Control Panel, Sound, Recording, right click the input, Properties, Levels? That doesn't give anywhere near enough gain. I think I need a mic preamp or some sort of booster.

Doesn't make any difference if its there. With some drivers its there, some not. I'm now trying with an M-Audio 2496 and no boost is there. I guess the card is just not designed for a microphone, just line in level inputs.
