Lapping CPU : Is it worth the time?

Is it worth spending the time to lap a cpu these days?

I have an FX8350 and I'll be cooling it with the Corsair H110.

I've read around the net and I haven't really found any really strong reasons to spend the time lapping for 3-5degrees of extra cooling.

not really ,especially since the actual chip under the heat spreader is only like 1/3 of the size of the full heatspreader and that's where 90% of the contact really is.

no. If anything, lap the cooler first.

And, I might spend the $110 from the h100I on a 4670K or a stronger graphics card instead.

Depends on the flatness of the heat spreader.
5 degrees Celsius cam mean the difference of a normal overclock or high overclock.

Not really. It is, IMO a pain and the gain is usually minimal. So to me the slight reward isn't worth the hassle.
