I have a laptop with WinVista Home Edition. To this point laptop works OK but WV Home Edition is , well .... Laptop is about 2 years old
I am soon beginning some more important work and have questions.
New application is going to require the laptop to be on and unattended overnight (secure at home).
1. If I close the screen top, and leave W/V and my application running, is the PC still
on and operating or does it go into sleep mode? If so, can I shut screen and prevent sleep mode or whatever? I know with desktops there used to be power settings to avoid sleep mode, etc. What about laptop with screen down?
2.Secondly more with W/Vista, I am willing to consider changing OS as W/Vista does not hold my confidence. It was OK with less important work, but this is more serious.
Preferring not reformat, should I expect good performance with an upgrade?
If so, is a different version of Vista enough better? Is it possible to "upgrade" to Windows XP PRO? when Windows Vista Home Edition is installed?
Many Thanks,
