Laptop charging keeps on and of after certain percentage

Hi,
I am using toshiba l40A laptop. Recently my laptop charger keeps connect and disconnect after reaching certain percentage, and this percentage keeps decreasing in the same day. What might be the problem? Adapter, adapter port to laptop, or battery?

I've tried with another adapter, same problem. I want to unplug my battery to check the port, but my laptop using internal battery. Is it safe to unplug it and using AC only?

If you are still running the original battery, yes, it is probably shot. You should be able to run the laptop without the battery just fine.
