Question Laptop CPU(i5 9th gen) frequency dropping from 4000mhz to 1400mhz in game

Idk why that's happening, i do play games using charger, checked if power usage is on max, the max temp was 87C and average was 83-84C. Any help would be appreciated thanks

A CPU does not run at a constant frequency, so it could go up and down depending of task requirements, temperatures, power, etc.
Did you notice if your average FPS have stayed the same of it has gone down since you noticed the CPU frequency?
Is your game performing different than before ?
What's the laptop make and model?

I meant that it's not being able to perform at its usual 4000mhz. My games have seen a drop in fps (they used to run smoothly before).

Its an acer aspire 7 i5 9300h + 1650
