Question Laptop CPU temp over 100 Celcius - New issue.

Hello

I have had a look around a few forums and tried a couple of fixes including cleaning my case with a computer duster, elevating my laptop to ensure the vents have space to expell hot air and setting my processor power management to a maximum of 99%. I have not had a crash since changing the latter but I did notice with HWmonitor that the temp briefly went about 100 Celcius while in a very short game (less than 2 minutes to test the temp after previous changes).

My specs are listed below and I would very much appreciate any further ideas to fix this - I pasted everything from SYSTEMINFO to give the most information.
I also dont know if its relevant but the crash is happening on Starcraft2 which I have played frequently on this laptop without many issues.

how much over 100 degree? for how long?
laptop cpu usually run hot.
you could turn it down to power saver
HWmonitor only shows 100 degress as the maximum but I dont think it runs like that for long.
The Laptop has blackscreened and attempted to shutdown (logged out ect) after maybe 10 minutes MAX (based on a guess after it shut down 13 minutes into the game and seeing it was already at 100 in the 2 minute game).

I can try power saver but its the shutting down the laptop that concerns me more.

Take it apart, clean vents and fans very well, and repaste it. I had this issue on my laptop. It was thermal throttling and shutting down, and i repasted it and it worked fine and no longer overheated. thermal paste is very important

Repasting it is the common solution which Ive not tried just because its a couple days until I will be in town - I will have a look to see if I can pickup some replacement paste.

Thank you.

Regarding repasting a laptop, I highly recommend getting Honeywell PTM7950. Although sourcing it can be a little rough since Honeywell doesn't sell it to consumers (LTT seems to sell it if you don't mind getting it from them). It's reportedly the TIM that system builders use.

If you can't get it, then I recommend a thicker paste because laptop cooling systems don't apply the same amount of pressure that desktop coolers do, so thinner pastes will pump out over time.
