Hey.

So I am having some trouble with my laptop screens, and I would like to ask for some help. A while ago, the display on my X550VX stopped working. I have plugged the desktop screen into the laptop and worked well, but the laptops own display didnt work. I wanted to test the display on a different laptop, so I have another X550 series laptop.

I have attached the X550VX display into the X550 laptop, but forgot the cable for the camera in the original (X550VX) laptop. I powered the X550 one on, and I smelled something burning and saw some sparks at the camera of X550VX laptop.

So I have purchased a new display on ebay, plugged it into the X550VX, and same story. Laptop turns on, but no image displayed. I have tried the screen on the second laptop too, but same again.

Sooo.... I got another ASUS laptop from this series, and I didnt want to mess around too much with it, so I plugged the first laptop (X550VX) display to this new laptop, and it didnt work. Then I plugged in the X550 screen to it, and it works. I also plugged in the display I bought from ebay and it doesnt work either. So, there is one display (besides its own) that works on this laptop. So I decided to try this working display on my original X550VX laptop, and it doesnt work. It doesnt work on the X550 either, it only works on this new one.

Now I am very confused, and would like to know what is the most likely thing wrong with the original (X550VX) and the X550 laptops?

You're advised to source like for like parts. Do the part numbers for the panel that went out match the one's you've sourced later down the road? Can you pass on an image of the part number/model number of the panels?
The original display in the laptop is model number B156HTN03.8, the one I bought from ebay is B9TF1838D33N0013X, and the listing had this in title: COMPATIBLE AUO B156HTN03.8

Based on the other thread, it is difficult to follow what works/doesn't work given that we are talking about multiple devices. I suggest labeling each (i.e. Laptop 1) to help folks follow better.
I totally get that :)

So ASUS X550VX will be laptop 1. It is the one that I was first trying to fix. I powered it on and the screen didnt work.

Then ASUS X550 will be laptop 2. It is the second laptop I have, where I attached the display cable from the laptop 1 but forgot the camera cable in the laptop 1. I powered it on and saw sparks on laptop 1 camera and immidietly turned it off.

Then I have another ASUS, which works perfectly fine, so a laptop 3. If I plug in display from laptop 1 to laptop 3 it doesnt work. If I plug in display from laptop 2 to laptop 3 it works. If I plug in the new display that I bought to laptop 3 it doesnt work. All though display from laptop 2 works when plugged in to this laptop 3, it doesnt work when I plug it into laptop 2.

So what I have now are 3 laptops and 4 screens (but I wont be playing around with laptop 3 screen), so lets say 3 screens. Neither of the 3 screens work on laptop 1 or 2. 2 screens work ok laptop 3.

I hope that makes more sense now.
