I cracked the display on my Dell N5040 (Windows 7) and bought a replacement. After replacing the display when powered up the screen displays multi-colored vertical line and the system will not boot up. When I replace the cracked screen everything works. Although nothing is displayed with the new screen should I try to catch the BIOS when first turning it on for a start-up repair; is it a driver issue; is it a bad display screen. Help

Solution

No real way aside from what the ebay seller states. But if it does not work, that's a big clue that it does not work LOL Just contact the seller and let them know what is happening.

I'm sure it's connected properly. I can switch back and forth between the new screen and the old cracked one and the new one doesn't work but the cracked one does. I bought the new one on E-bay witched showed it as compatible with my model N5040. How can I tell if it is?

I contacted the seller and they said that they had similar problems with a batch of screens and sent me a replacement that worked fine. Thanks for the help.
