Question Laptop does not respond unless a key is pressed.

I've connected a keyboard and an mouse to my laptop. This problem is recent and is quite annoying. After some time, in intervals, my computer refuses to respond. Not exactly respond but, when I click anywhere in GUI (start, minimize maximize buttons, even in browser's navigation keys) it responds and quickly defaults to its previous state. example: when I press start button, start opens for a fraction of second and closes automatically. No matter how hard or repeatedly I press the mouse, it does not work. But, when I press any key on my inbuilt laptop keyboard then everything goes to normal. i cannot figure out what the problem is.

Yes Keyboard's and mouse's lights are on. They all work normally.
