Hi, I'm currently working on my aunt's laptop. She wants me to reinstall Windows to
start anew. I found out that all of the laptop's usb ports are broken, the middle pins are gone just a hollow rectangle.

The only available ports are LAN, VGA, 3.5mm mic and headset. There's an optical
drive and hard drive.

I don't have experience in replacing usb ports because it's surface mount soldering.

I'm thinking of converters for the sata port of the optical drive since I believe
that it isn't important anymore.

Any work around with this? Thank you.

Solution
Oh yes! Thanks! Are there any work arounds with the broken usb ports?
Options:

  1. Get the USB port fixed
  2. Buy the relevant caddy and a suitable HDD to go in it. Create your Win 10 intall on that drive, then put it in the caddy and boot from it to install on the internal drive.
  3. Install via DVD
