Laptop freezes when playing games only

my specs: Intel core 15-7200u 2.5 with turbo boost up to 3.1 GHz
-Nvidia GeForce 940mx
-8GB DDR 4
-1TB HDD

Recently I got my HDD corrupted so I sent to the store to get it fixed. After my laptop has been fixed, Any games that I played will freeze and I need to force it to shutdown every time. Does it have anything to do with the HDD because before it got corrupted, I could play any games just fine. pls help

What exactly did they do to fix the laptop? If a new OS was installed, were all the drivers installed from the laptop vendor? Along with Windows updates?

They changed the HDD to a new one

Are your games installed on a secondary hard drive? If OS was reinstalled, they might need to be reinstalled to cleanly associate with the clean OS install...

Quite possible they just left it with old initial drivers, too....
