Hey there, I've just purchased a Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop.
I've updated my GPU (Nvidia GTX 1050 4GB) but the fps is pretty lame.
Before updating I've had a really bad fps something like ~30 fps on CSGO, after the update im having just 130 fps with drops while shooting.
My rig -
i5-7300HQ Processor, 6M Cache, 2.5 GHz up to 3.30 GHz
8GB DDR4 2400MHz
1TB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5

For example - GTA V running on the highest settings, showing that I'm capable of even higher settings if I could, I mean it uses just like 2gb out of the 4gb, im running it on 60fps but it has alot of fps drops from 60 to 40 20 or even 10 while driving, crashing, walking or shooting.
Same thing with CSGO, running on the highest settings, having just 130 fps and drops while shooting.

I thought I would get a freaking high FPS with this spec, maybe it's because it's a laptop, I really don't know or maybe I need to change something in the settings..

I have to mention that I've updated my GPU driver and made it as the primary GPU, Battery settings are for high performance, im having the charger plugged in and maximized the fan power.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Tried it right now, didn't fix it tho.
I guess that's the max I can get cause it's a laptop.
Thought it would be more powerful, it's a 1050 gtx and i5 7300HQ.. not a bad spec.

Thanks :)

Laptops, unless they're specifically built for gaming and nothing else, tend to have slightly poorer performance than a desktop built with more or less the same parts.

I do want to point out that 130 FPS should be perfectly playable in CS:GO; the FPS drops you're getting in GTA V are definitely more problematic, but honestly aren't all that unusual. GTA V is apparently not optimized very well, and tends to be very heavy on hardware; if there's any setting you can live without, turn it down and see if your FPS rate improves.

130 isn't that bad but there are alot of fps drops.. specially when I shoot someone.. the worse is when im facing an enemy and we shoot at each other, it just freezes..
Even tho it's a laptop, it's a gaming laptop which should hold those games without fps drops.. I'm pretty sure about that.
The laptop specs aren't bad at all

Hi,

Try to turn off SuperFetch in Services.

hi!
Reporting you from 7300+8gb+1060maxq=Dell 7577-9577.
You MUST install similar 2nd RAM module for RAM to become DUAL-mode, not single.
My result - FPS in CS GO increased from 130-70 to 170-120 FPS after adding 2nd module and checking that RAM's in dual mode. FPS almost doubled!

Cheerz!
