I just posted a thread about my laptop HDD. now I need to know if there is a special piece that I need to buy to keep it firmly in my case so it doesn't move around. that laptop hdd is really small compared to regular hdd's.

Solution
Desktop HDDs are 3.5 inches wide, whereas laptop HDDs are only 2.5 inches wide.

The HDD retaining sleeve is supplied already inside the laptop with the existing HDD mounted inside it.

However, if you bought a new HDD you may have bought one that's not thick enough as laptop hard drives come in three thicknesses, 7mm, 9.5mm and 12.5mm, with the most common being 9.5mm

You have to buy an HDD that's the same thickness as the original one.
There are many products for this.

They are all very similar and any brand should work.

This is in the UK, you will have to find it in the region you are in.

Dont be discouraged by it saying ssd to hdd. ssd's are the same size as laptop drives

He's talking about using the laptop hdd in his desktop. Not changing the laptop hdd.
