Laptop Headphone jack sound too low after opening it.

Hello,
I had to open my laptop (Dell 3521) yesterday to clean the touchpad which had stopped responding. (There was water damage there - apparently only the keyboard was spill proof, but not the buttons of the touchpad). But well. All is well and I screw it back together nicely, and now the headphone volume is too low. What have I exactly done? The main Laptop speakers work fine.

I'm assuming that none of them worked on it. So, I suppose that your jack is broken from the inside. I recommend that you take it to a hardware shop and get it inspected as the jack sometimes act up due to some internal issue. Shouldn't take a lot of money or efforts to fix it if that is the case!
