I have a laptop with i3 10th gen, 4gb ddr4 ram, windows 10. I use only chrome & ms word, I don't use other softwares or games. Recently, it's getting hotter than normal. Earlier, there was no heating. I wonder what caused this?
Currently, climate in my region is shifting from winter to summer. Could this be a cause?
What usually causes laptops to heat up? What are the solutions?

Hey there,

So, yes, ambient temps can play a part, as in when it's getting hotter weather.

With laptops they can also get very dusty. So it might be an idea to take off the back of the laptop and use a can of compressed air to clean out the grills/fans etc. The fans themselves can get very clogged up with dust and all sorts of stuff over time.

You could also look at a laptop cooling pad, which can help lower your temps too. These things combined should get your laptop a few degrees cooler.

Re-pasting thermal paste on the CPU can also have a good result with a laptop that gets warm. It's not the easiest thing to do, but it's doable nonetheless.
