hello everyone i recently got a laptop off ebay

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/15-6-Acer-M3-581PG-Core-i5-500GB-HDD-20GB-SSD-1GB-NVIDIA-GT640M-Win8-/291022031763?pt=AU_comp_laptop&hash=item43c243cb93&_uhb=1
and its pretty great except one thing my temps are going through the roof when gaming the gpu temps are about 75 and thats overclocked which is pretty good and my cpu is around 90-95 ive tried everything to get it to decrease tempratures (Bottle Lids Under Laptop to increase airflow, Cooling Pad With 5 Fans, Keeping My Desk Dustless, putting cpu to max 99%, keeping my room cold ) and nothing is working any suggestions except opening the laptop cause that would void warranty (mind you the laptop is not even a month old)

Hi, unfortunately such high temps are not unusual. In fact, it seems to be pretty common. Many reviews of laptops have shown that the CPU can hit pretty high temps when doing intensive things like playing games. This seems to be the case for many, but not all laptops. The CPU in my Lenovo Y470 hits 92c - 94c when playing games.

Only thing I can suggest is to disable Turbo Boost which will prevent the CPU from automatically overclocking itself. This can be done in the Advanced Power Options under Maximum CPU Performance. Simply change it from 100% down to 99%.

For my i5-2410m CPU, that limits the speed to 2.3GHz, typically means the CPU is running at 85c - 88c. That is still hot, but it is better than 92c - 94c. Lowering the percentage will decrease the CPU speed and lower temps, but that also decreases performance as well. The % is not linear and not very intuitive. You need to play around with it. For example, at 90% the i5-2410m still runs at 2.3GHz, when dropped down to 76%, speed decreases to 1.8GHz.
