Laptop into a desktop?

I was planning on building a laptop desktop (laptop in a desktop case) would there be anyway to have an atx power supply power the laptop instead of the 12v dc jack? also how would i get the case power button to work? Thanks
(only reason why is because i have a laptop motherboard lying around. sounded like a fun project)

In theory yes, you can mount a laptop mobo in a desktop case. So long as you don't mind drilling new holes, and installing new mounts. No, you cannot run a desktop psu into a laptop mobo. The connectors simply do not exist, you'll need to use the 12v jack.
