Question Laptop is showing me "Smart Hard Disk Error" ?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If S.M.A.R.T is reporting an error, then that would indicate that the drive is on it's way out. If the laptop came without an HDD and you yet have warranty, I'd ask you to contact your seller and HP for an RMA. If the laptop is beyond it's warranty period, you should contemplate backing up all mission critical data(if possible) and then replace the drive with another.

I have an HP Victus i5 with a 512GB SSD
It looks like a modern laptop, so it'll probably have an M.2 NVMe SSD inside. Slightly older and it might be a 2.5" SATA SSD. Do you have any experience of disassembling laptops? If not and the laptop doesn't boot Windows, seek professional help. Cracking some laptops open is an art and best done at an ESD workstation.

Is there any really important data on the SSD? Files you've "forgotten" to backup? If so, I'd suggest replacing the SSD to keep any remaining data intact. Fit a new SSD, install Windows, then plug your old SSD into a USB caddy and see if you can extract any files.

Your SSD might still be usable, but SMART errors need investigating. If something is badly wrong and you try to re-install Windows, you might wipe important personal data off the drive, with no hope of recovery.

Does the laptop boot into Windows or just hang?
