Laptop Motherboard & HDD Upgrade

Does anyone know if my Toshiba satellite p300 v2.70 mother board can support a 500 GB to 1 TB HDD, or how I could find out?

My 250 GB HDD is failing and I really don't fancy buying a new laptop with Windows 8 on it

500 GB should be no problem as some P300 models shipped with 640 GB hard drives: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/laptops/224715/toshiba-satellite-p300/specifications

1 TB possibly, but not 100% certain about that owing to lack of info.
