I bought a new laptop yesterday (asus X550CC) it only works when it is plugged in.
It comes up with "0% plugged in, charging" but it doesn't charge....

Solution
A few possibilities:
- battery isn't fully seated.
- battery is bad.
- there's a short in the charging circuitry.
- you've got a faulty motherboard (beyond a short in charging circuit).

Frankly, with a brand new laptop, I wouldn't bother with doing a lot of diagnostics beyond making sure the battery is fully seated and that the contacts are clean. I'd just request an RMA. Those suckers cost too much to put up with faults when it's fresh out of the box.

Exactly. Like valcano says check the battery if its is plugged in properly id take it back to the store you bought it from and exchange it.
