Question Laptop Not Detecting External Monitor

Hi all,

I connect my Asus laptop to an external monitor. Today, after coming home from work and plugging the laptop back in i found that the laptop was failing to detect the monitor. I just get a 'no HDMI' signal from the monitor and then the monitors power light blinks white and orange. I've plugged the monitor into a separate device and it worked just fine.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the monitor and graphics card drivers, tested the physical connection between the two, and changed out the HDMI cord.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried un plugging the monitor, restart the laptop. Then plug monitor in, then restart?

Yup, have tried that a few times, monitor still not getting signal from laptop

What is laptop model?

It's an ASUS FX502V
Intel i7-7700hq 2.8GHz
16GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

In settings,system,display, click on detect. Did you try this?

Yup, just comes back with the no display detected

Plug the monitor in to the laptop with both on. Turn the monitor off then back on. Try with both on unplugging both the monitor end and laptop end, wait a couple of minutes then plug both ends in.

Also have you tried switching from Nvidia to Intel graphics and seeing if it is detected through on board graphics?

Have tried both suggestions, still not being detected.

I'm beginning to wonder if something is wrong with the HDMI port on the laptop itself.

Have you tried the mini display port?
