Question Laptop or deskop for college?

Hello everyone!

I’m starting my economics studies in a month and currently I'm facing a dilemma: desktop or laptop? I need equipment for intensive work (Excel, Word, 12 hours a day, 3 days a week). I want it to be quiet because my current one annoys me (54 dB noise Fujitsu i5 4590 GTX 1050). I am considering a desktop, but in 2027 I will move from my home and won’t be able to take a desktop PC with me. I already own a tablet with a keyboard, so I can work mobile when needed. It's important to note that i will connect deskop/laptop to 4k monitor.

For mobile work, in the next 3 years:

• Once a week in the library
• 2.5-3.5 months of internships away from home

What would you choose in my place?

1. Alienware M15 R2 I7 9750H RTX 2060, 16GB RAM
   • Keyboard backlight damage (some keys glow different colors) Price = 2200 PLN (565 USD)
2. Alienware R10 Ryzen 7 3700x, RTX 3060, 32GB RAM,water cooling.
   • Slight damage on the bottom of the case. Price = 2600 PLN (667 USD)
3. Alienware M15 R6 I7-11800H 16GB 1TB SSD RTX 3070
   • This laptop I can return it within 14 days without reason. Fully functional. Seller : pawnshop Price = 3700 PLN (950 USD)

Laptop would be my vote, so you have portability and ofc you carry your work with you. Just curious, are the 3 options listed above, the only options at your disposal? Like nothing else is possible? You're located in Poland?

I would not invest in used hardware, not if you're looking for something to last you a while and also have product warranty in case the device conks out. You might want to reconsider this route, since you should be spending time studying not running between establishments trying to repair 2nd hand devices.
