Laptop PC version of the MacBook Pro?

Looking to get a rock solid laptop which would be mostly for business. I usually open a lot of programs at once (Word, Access, Adobe, Graphics, etc.) and want a very peppy Laptop. A couple of people have told me to get a MacBook Pro and run windows on it, etc. because they are built with very good hardware. I will not be playing any games on it other than the occasional Minecraft when my son commandeers it. Want a good battery life but performance is a must. I have used the lower end AMD laptops but you get what you pay for. Looking to spend no more than 1500. Thanks, Brendan

If you want to overpay for older hardware, a Macbook is probably the right thing to get.

Is this a desktop replacement? Or will it need to be light and portable?

I'd be looking at an Ultrabook then. Fortunately or unfortunately, there's tons of choices, though your multitasking needs help narrow it down a bit. Knowing whether or not you need or even care about a "transformer" (detaches into tablet or has 360 degree hinges and folds over into a tablet) will narrow it down further. On that front, you could also consider a Surface Pro 3.

I have recommended the Lenovo Y50 laptops to quite a few friends - they are a good laptop, have decent performance and a decent price. Here is one that has a really good price on it:

Looking for minimal lag time. I am kind of over it and know you have to pay to play. As stated, a very heavy business software user with multiple programs open at once.

I recommend the ThinkPad T series. They are very durable laptops that have been designed with the military's MIL-SPEC specifications for ruggedness and and harsh environmental conditions. They can be dropped from a table onto a hard floor or from 9" high onto a carpeted floor without taking damage. They are also designed to survive a 35MPH direct impact long enough to salvage data from the hard drive / SSD. The keyboard is compartmentalized from the rest of the laptop and has drain holes so if you spill water onto the keyboard it will drain out of the laptop and not damage the internal electronics.
