If the laptop goes to sleep during a background update of an app (for example: browser update, antivirus update etc.) will it resume the installation of the specific update after it wakes up from sleep mode? Will this cause any trouble for windows or hard drive?

Technically it's not supposed to go to sleep if the updates are taking place. I've had some laptop that did go to sleep but reviving the laptop had the update progress bar move forward once I logged into the GUI.
