Question laptop r9 3900 clevo NH58AF1 overheating rtx 2070

hi my laptop on idle is very hot. around 77-80degrees (keeps fluctuating quickly), and i have just changed the thermal paste and pads and its the same issue.


i have a 2600 in my pc - do you think i should swap them? both are am4 socket (the laptop too)

Main issue is the loudness of the fans and the laptop starts becoming sluggish

what laptop?

did it use to be as hot because laptops run hot generally? and did you clean all the dust out of it's cooler when you stripped it down to re-paste it, other than that you could try re-pasting it again to make sure you got the cooler seated correctly

paste job was okay and i am sure, i made sure ther was contact with a bit of paste and then cleaned off with isopropyl and then repasted thick.

i have a 2600 on my pc and idle for that is 62 - should i swap them out, they are both am4. my laptop is custom made from pc specialist

UPDATE:

today got it down from 95 to 65! turns out my board is locked but using ryzen master i have been finding stable states

one issue with my laptop is it always needs charging - if the cable comes out it automatically shuts off during stress
