Question Laptop RTX 2070 Getting Sub-50FPS in Minecraft (GPU Usage ~17%)?

I have an ASUS Strix Scar III Gaming laptop with 16GB of RAM, RTX 2070 and Intel i7 9750H... I was worried the problem was related to thermals, but while they were hot, thermals were around 88c and CPU was still clocked at around 4Ghz. The GPU usage was hovering around 17% which was causing the game to only have ~45fps :-(

any suggestions on what this could be?

Go into Nvidia settings and disable Optimus Switching for Minecraft. It's possible that the laptop is seeing minecraft as not enough of a load to switch over from the IGP.
