Question Laptop screen black but still functions

Left my laptop for an hour & when I came back the screen was black and now will not turn back on. The laptop works and is usable when connected to my external monitor, but the display wont turn on, even when booting up.
The display is still recognised in the nvidia control panel, and I've shone a torch on the screen to see if it was just the back-light out but cannot see anything. The laptop is a HP Omen 17-an018na. I've reinstalled the nvidia graphics drivers & updated the BIOS with still no luck. Any help would be appreciated

the dispaly may be fried i had the same problem with my hp 630 i just changed the screen and it worked fine but you could check in what state is the wire going from the motherboard to the screen i had a new hp laptop and after 3 months of use the cable snaped

Cables snapped, what u guys go in there everyday and see what u can improved

Can't hurt now, open it up and unplug/replug video cable and pray.

Try reconnecting the internal video cable at both ends. If that doesn't get the built-in screen back up and running, most likely the panel died on you, possibly the video cable. They're user replaceable, at least on the majority of laptops.
