Hi,

My laptop suddenly stopped connecting to my home network mid way through a day.

PC & other devices all connect as per usual either via ethernet or wi fi.

I can see other wi fi connections as options to connect to.

I have a vague recollection of this happening a few years back, and doing something via the control panel fixed the issue. I maybe wrong.

I have also typed in 192.168.1.1 into Chrome, but get the no internet connection screenrather than router menu.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Solution
you can try this:

Run CMD and type "ipconfig /release"

when it's done (depending on the device it can take between 1 second to 5-6 seconds)

after that type "ipconfig /renew"

it should work then, if not, maybe you're wifi antenna in the laptop is dead..

Hi Grania

I get the response "operation cannot be performed on (Wireless Network/Wireless Network 2/ Local Area Connection) while it has its media disconnected"

Thanks for the idea, but Ive just gone next door and connected no problem to my neighbours wi-fi, so just seem to be unable to connect to my home network.

Im afraid cannot be specific. Whilst resolving, it became clear that my laptop's ethernet connection no longer works, so figuring it was a simpple wifi issue, repeated the above steps, turned on/ff/reset etc, and on reboot it was working
