Would this laptop be capable of running HL 2 at high res, high quality at
reasonable fps?

1.86 ghz centrino, 1024mb ram, 256mb nvidia geforce go 6800?

Probably not hi res/hi quality but rather decent it will run

As others have said, it'll run fine, and your FPS should be fairly high
- but I wouldn't worry too much about the graphics not being maximum
quality. HL2 still looks awesome even with the minimum settings,
granted you lose some of the nice DX9 shaders on 'minimum', but the game
still stands tall in terms of visuals.
