Hey guys looking for a laptop/transformer tablet for home, school and university. Currently looking at the Microsoft surface and was wondering if there are any alternatives that could be better for my price range.

Price: Max £650
Needs to: Portable/Slim, Microsoft applications (word/powerpoint), Adobe programs (Possibly flash/fireworks), entertainment (youtube/movies) and maybe light gaming (not neccessary)

Any help will be appreciated

The normal surface can't do stuff like that. You'd need to get the Surface Pro 2 or Surface Pro 3.

Try looking for something like this http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_Transformer_Book_Flip_TP500LN/overview/

You can get it with the nvidia GT840M graphics which should do light gaming pretty well. As for CPU, the i5 or i7 are fine either or.

The price works out to be $1000 CAD which is like $570 GBP, though I guess VAT is the strangest thing on god's green earth.
