I just upgraded my laptop today to W10, and now I can't seem to charge my battery anymore, there was 0 problems before i upgraded from W8. What it simply says is "Plugged in, not charging", this is pretty bad because my Laptop can only hold max 1½ hour (It's a gaming laptop). Is there any way to check/fix it, because I dont want to give it to a repair shop, and I have never even seen one...

Thanks for the help!

better way to solve such a problem is to go back to your previous window....go to setting then recovery after that select your previous window.

I have an HP Envy laptop, and updating the BIOS worked for me as well. None of the other solutions I found online made a difference (although I couldn't remove the battery and start up on AC power because the battery is not easily removable). One good thing about this problem is that I discovered the HP Battery Check utility, which confirmed that my battery is in good condition.

UPDATE: It turns out my battery was bad. The HP Battery Check utility that is part of the HP Support Assistant software said the battery was fine. However, HP's boot-level PC Hardware Diagnostics said the battery was bad and needed to replaced. I did that today--a minor pain since I had to take the laptop apart--and things seem good again.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5535, and tried doing this and it didn't fix the problem. Every time I start up the computer it gives me a message that it can't recognize the AC adaptor, even though it's the one that came with the laptop. It won't charge. I upgraded to a new BIOS. I switched out ac adaptors. Tried different electrical outlets, and and my diagnostics say the battery is fine.

This only started after it upgraded to Windows 10, which I truly loathe.

Anyone have any other questions? Thank you

I did this and my battery started charging, then it stopped again and the battery ACPI was back in device manager. My Asus is battery 16% plugged in, not charging. I'm sure if I repeat the process it will work again but for a few minutes not worth it. Any ideas?
Thanks for the great original fix. Shows me theres something with win 10 and not my laptop.
I then realized I have Power4gear hybrid running so started changing the power schemes. Nothing happened. So I unplugged it and back in and it starts charging for a minute and then stops. unplug it and back in it charges for a minute.
Ended task for power4gear, unplugged and back in and same ting works for 30 seconds then stops charging. [/quotemsg]

Mine does the same thing. Did you fix it and if so how?

EASY FIX - My Acer Aspire E 15 wouldn't charge or power up with cord plugged in after another WIN 10 update.
THis may solve your problem, solved mine. Reset the battery. There's a pinhole on back/bottom for this particular laptop to do a reset.
From Acer's website:

Internal Battery Reset
How can I disconnect the internal battery from my notebook?

If your computer will not power on or your battery is behaving abnormally, try resetting the battery using the pinhole reset button. This process will temporarily disconnect and then reconnect the internal battery.

Unplug AC power adapter.
Locate the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the computer.
Insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole. Hold the reset button for 4 seconds.
Let the computer sit for 5 minutes with no power.
Connect the AC adapter and power on the system
