Laptop won't turn on. Doesn't show charging light unless power button ribbon is unplugged??

Okay, so I gave an Asus laptop and I've had it over 2 years. A few weeks ago we were going to replace the keyboard and we were careful and e eveeything, but now it won't turn on.

The power button does nothing. If I unplug the power button ribbon, suddenly the charging light comes on. What's the deal?

I have the same problem. Replaced my hinges along with the aluminum lid, now it won't power up. I get a green battery light when plugged in using the wall power adapter.. any ideas????

I have the same problem as Willcory, asus q302la, except I wasn't changing anything it just started intermittently and then finally stopped entirely...green light is on when plugged in but it won't power on.

try this. remove main battery, disconnect power adapter from laptop, hold down the power button for 20 seconds, re-install main battery, reconnect power adapter & turn on laptop.
