Hi friends, little sister tried to upgrade GPU and PSU, when it didn't work she asked for my help but can't figure this out. Pls help me look cool for my lil sis lol.

Mobo: TUF gaming b550 plus
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3500x
Old GPU: zotac gt gforce 1030 2gb
New GPU: gforce 3060
Old PSU: Corsair vs350
New PSU: Corsair cv550

Basically, with all the old kit, the pc boots fine with no problems, but whenever I connect the new PSU (also tried mine from my working pc - Corsair tx850) no display comes up and the dram light is solid orange.

Checked all connections, tried removing CMOS battery.

reverted back to old PSU (350) and all boots fine, but this PSU doesn't have the power for the new GPU.

I figure I'm doing something dumb but I'm stumped. Any help would be massively appreciated, thanks guys.

Not exactly an upgrade in terms of quality but you did get a little more wattage on the unit.

Check to see if all your connections to components are fully seated and secure. With the older GPU and PSU, might want to see if you can get into BIOS and take note of the motherboard's BIOS version. If there are any updates pending, update the BIOS, then remove all GPU drivers using DDU then replace with the RTX 3060 into the build. Make sure the GPU is fully seated into the motherboard's PCIe slot.

Hi mate,

Thankyou for the warm welcome and help here, I followed your suggested steps, bios was way out of date and cleared the drivers. GPU is definitely seated properly but the problem persists.

It's very strange,
Old PSU old GPU works fine
New PSU and old GPU - DRAM solid orange
My PSU and old GPU - Dram solid orange
New/my psu and new GPU - dram solid orange.

More than happy to try any suggestions you may have because I'm stumped.

Really appreciate your effort so far bud 👍
