Larry Ellison - who cares what this joker has to say; he needs to focus on his own disasters and not worry about what other co's are doing.

There's too much blind Apple hate in the PC enthusiast community. Most of us who do hate on Apple (I said most, not all), just do it because it's "cool" to do it or just have reasons that make no sense at all. If you can't admit that for a few years, the Macbook was the ONLY quality built notebook on the market, then you've never taken apart a 2010 PC notebook. They were complete crap until Apple showed that care and attention to detail can go into a notebook.

Anyway to the actual video, I completely agree. That guy KNEW what people wanted before people knew what they wanted. He threw away attention to mouth-breathing focus groups, and he just built things he thought were cool, and they worked. No education or years of market research can teach that, and that's why I think Apple has met its (at least) temporary end of dominance. I personally stand behind Apple's ability to put together a great OS. I don't personally use OSX, but I still think it's great from a usability standpoint.

He's just stating the obvious. In the last two years, what has Apple released? IPhone 5 and IPod refreshes were just hardware upgrades and already in the pipeline.
Apple, like Microsoft, didn't so much innovate as take something others were already doing and improve upon it and market it well. The company isn't dead, but they need a strong evangelist, not a businessman, as their public face, just like Microsoft needs someone besides Ballmer.

one big thing steve jobs did is pay the extra money to make the product the best possible way. Using more expensive aluminum than cheap plastic. Using titanium nuts instead of aluminum. he had the vision and the know how to see that people are smart enough to see the greed in big business. Unforunately, with him gone I am sure the board's first thought was "We need to start making our products with less costs. Lets look into plastic"

"Ohhhhhh shiny, me want" comes to mind with that statement. But don't forget the phone only costs $200-$230 to make because it is weak compared to any other phones at the price point.

Gates and Jobs had an exciting race to see who could become the top tech powerhouse. Ballmer and Cook are in a race to see who can bankrupt their company first.

i cant believe that crap" people dont know what they want until they see" just because job said so they think is true, its another example of the average apple users:" i repeat what steve said because i cant think by myself"",, inmature people dont know what they want: if i want a laptop for graphic design i will look for a big screen and fast cpu if i travel a lot i will look for something light...dont put us in a bag i would correct that :apple people dont know what they want until apple tell you what YOU MUST BUY at the price they want you to pay..period

if apple would build the products with the best materials, the iphones/ipads wouldnt look like trash after 2 months or macbooks looking yellowish..do you think macbook is the best? check this

apple was edison, palm was tesla

one (palm) did the actual work and innovated portable technology, the other patented everything it could and stole almost everything form the other (apple)

Apple has already started slipping. Product sales are dropping about 5% per quarter across almost their entire product line. People are starting to get wise to apples marketing gimmick and buying superior devices elsewhere for less money.

I know, I was playing with my old iPhone 4 vs my new HTC One the other day. The screen on the iPhone 4 is nothing. It's like 4.1" and some weak resolution. My One has a 4.7" screen with a full 1080P resolution and custom Android interface. The sad thing is every time Apple releases a new product it's just a rehash of the old product with some slight new feature tweaked. I think people like Ellison have grown tired of this schtick. I know I have.

You know, if you cruised on over to one of the Apple fanboy/girl sites/forums, you would find nothing but love there. The degree of Apple hate (on nearly all things Apple) on Tom's can be downright laughable at times.

Wouldn't it be interesting to know how many Apple haters have Apple products? Products that users purchased of their own accord (Apple can't make anyone buy anything for the record).

Just an observation from a neutral geek.
