My PC is around a year old and last night while watching a movie my PC froze so I forced a restart and would only boot into a BIOS loop (not getting into windows and not showing any hdd or ssd in bios). After switching the power strip on and off only then would the PC boot into windows. Any ideas what might have triggered this behavior?

failing spinning drives can lock a system up quite solidly...; often, trying to access a bad spot will trigger the freeze, and, if a head crash, the drive's health deterioration could accelerate, and doing detailed surface scans could make it occur VERY fast, ...so extricate your needed data first!

Before even investigating a spinning drive's health, I'd offload any needed photos/docs/files to an external USB drive, or one or more cloud storage sites...(Dropbox, OneDrive, P-Cloud)

Once files/data are safe, then you can see if CrystalDiskInfo shows any drive health issues abnormal/bad sectors pending, etc...
