Launching Facebook kills internet connection

When I launch Facebook, my internet dies. I know that sounds weird, but I've tested this thoroughly. It just started today. It took a slow methodical approach, testing various other much more likely causes before I discovered that when I go to facebook.com within a few seconds, the internet connection on my PC grinds completely to a halt. Any ideas on where to start to troubleshoot what's going on here?

I am also having this problem today. I have an ethernet connection, and I end up having to reboot my computer. Doesn't matter what browser I use. Once, I reboot, if I don't connect to Facebook everything is fine. The minute I connect to FB it kind of starts, but has trouble loading something and then my connection goes down.

I think that may be it! I do use Avast, so the shoe fits, so to speak! Thanks! I'll check tomorrow to see if their patch fixed the issue
