Hello

I have linked three PC's using RemotePC and everything is working fine. I have been working from my office in Portsmouth and linking with my other PC in Chichester. This PC is to become the File Server. However, today, the PC in Chichester was off and I am assuming the PC shut itself down. I need the PC's to stay on for at least three-days at a time. All my PC's are fitted with SSD's.

Is it safe to leave the PC running constantly, and if so, how do I set the PC?

I am using Windows 7, 10 and 11 on individual machines. All need to stay on.

Regards

Dan

What happens if the location has a power failure?
A UPS of some sort may be in order.

Windows will want to update and restart from time to time.
See that the update process can be deferred or set to non working hours.

I see no problem with constant running so long as heat is under control.

Few things i do at work

  1. have a batch file to shut down any program and have the computer restart. Setup task scheduler to run batch file every Sunday.
  2. computer on battery backup, if power failure safely shutdown computer.
  3. if battery backup sees power again start computer.
If you dont want a battery backup there should be a setting in the bios to turn the computer back on if power failure once the PSU sees power again.

Another option, all our dell computers have WOL enabled in the bios and our network switch can send out a WOL command to boot the computer.
